Mira Venkatesh: Rosatom makes the right steps in development of the isotope market
Mira Venkatesh, Director of the Division of Physical and Chemical Sciences of IAEA (India) has told about the significance of the world isotope industry and the importance of isotopes in nuclear medicine.
‘It is very important to develop the world isotope market. It is not going to be as huge as some other markets but it is a niche market and I think it plays a great role’, the Director of the Division of Physical and Chemical Sciences of IAEA (India) has told Regnum International Information Agency. ‘I think that Rosatom makes the right steps in the development of this branch of industry. In my opinion the world is in need for isotopes. There are several reactors in the world that can really satisfy all demands. Russia is one of the countries that have certified research reactors able to satisfy the demand for isotopes’.
‘It is very important to develop nuclear medicine as it gives information that is not possible to get by any other method. There are many methods of diagnostics and therapy nowadays. Nuclear medicine has a set of unique characteristics not available for other methods. That is why it is so important’, said the expert.
