Asian Partners Interested in Sealed Radioactive Sources Designed in Russia
JSC Isotope together with FSUE "PA "MAYAK" has organized an exposition at the International Meeting on Radiation Processing (IMPR) held in Shanghai on October 4-8, 2013.
The Meeting was attended by more than 500 experts while the concurrent industrial exhibition gathered leading specialists and representatives of key global companies dealing with industrial irradiation: Nordion, IBA, Bruker, Gamma Service Group, etc.
The enterprises of "Rosatom" State Corporation demonstrated a joint booth that became an important step in promoting sealed radioactive sources with Cobalt-60 of the Russian design: type GIK-A6, GIK-7.2 and GIK-7-4.
The sources with Cobalt-60 are used for sterilization of food and healthcare products, irradiation of advanced materials, sewage and waste treatment, decontamination, modification of polymers' characteristics as well as gamma-ray flaw detection.
Moreover, during IMPR-2013 JSC Isotope has presented sealed radioactive sources with Cesium-137 traditionally produced by FSUE "PA "MAYAK". These sources are used in gamma-ray flaw detection, measurement techniques and for irradiation sterilization of food and medical drugs.
Joint exposition of "Rosatom" enterprises aroused great interest among the exhibition's visitors. Potential consumers were interested in the possibilities for organizing supplies of sealed radioactive sources designed in Russia to the global market. The representatives of JSC Isotope focused on the quality and affordability of products made by FSUE "PA "MAYAK". This factor is an important advantage for a rather narrow market of sealed sources that Chinese and Indian companies are eager to enter.
It was emphasized at IMRP- 2013 that JSC Isotope competing with existing and potential players at this market offers different services in delivering sealed radioactive sources, charging and servicing them. Due to advanced logistics, years of experienced servicing, authority and high quality of products of Russian manufacturers of JSC Isotope is interesting to foreign customers as a supplier of sealed radioactive sources.
Thus, during IMRP- 2013 the representatives of JSC Isotope declared that "Rosatom" State Corporation has entered the foreign market with sealed radioactive sources of the Russian design. Moreover, they confirmed that JSC Isotope is determined to expand economic cooperation with foreign partners.
