History

1958

By a joint  resolution of the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party and the Council of Ministers of the USSR no. 962-447 (issued on August 22, 1958), JSC Isotope was founded as a national company within Soyuzreaktiv run by the USSR Chemistry Board.

1961

JSC Isotope was reorganized into Isotope National Association and became part of the State Atomic Energy Committee of the USSR. This national company included 7 branches located in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Sverdlovsk, Tashkent and Khabarovsk. The branches ensured that the national economy's demand for isotope products was adequately assessed and met.

1972-1974

Creation of Interatominstrument, an international economic association in the area of nuclear instrumentation, as a Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA) entity. Isotope National Company became a key mamber in this international association. It provided USSR companies with modern radioisotope equipment and arranged its deliveries to other countries.

1973

A specialized chemical agents unit located at Staraya Kupavna (Noginsk District, Moscow region) was joint to Isotope National Company.

1975

Isotope National Company took part in developing a wide range of radioisotope devices, in setting up their manufacturing and application in the USSR. 

1983 

Isotope supplied instruments and equipment for a Nuclear Research Center (Tadjourah Nuclear Research Center) in Tadjourah (Libya) that was under construction.

1985-1987

At the time of rapid development of the nuclear energy sector, Isotope National Company supplied nuclear power plants under construction with spectrometric, radiometric and dosimetry equipment as well as automatic radiation monitoring system equipment, devices for management and control of reactor facilities, personal protective equipment.

1986

Isotope takes active part in setting up the manufacturing of dosimetry and radiometric equipment and in arranging its distribution to regions affected by the Chernobyl accident.

1992

By order of the Ministry for Atomic Energy of the Russian Federation no. 343 (issued on September 18,1992), Isotope National Company, USSR was renamed Isotope National Company, Russia. After the collapse of the USSR, it began to restore the logistics system whereby medical institutions received radioisotope products.

1998

By order of the Ministry for Atomic Energy of the Russian Federation no. 654 (issued on October 10,1998), Isotope National Company was renamed Federal Unitary Enterprise Isotope National Company.

2001

Federal State Unitary Enterprise Isotope National Company was created within the Ministry for Atomic Energy of the Russian Federation.

2008

Federal State Unitary Enterprise Isotope National Company was transformed into Joint Stock Company Isotope (JSC Isotope). 

2009

By order of the Government of the Russian Federation (issued on November 2, 2009), Federal Service for Technology and Export Control issued general export licenses for radioactive isotopes and isotope containing devices to JSC Isotope. The Company's efforts focused on mitigating radiological threats throughout the former USSR member-states, in Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa.

JSC Isotope was selected as general contractor for disassembling and transporting radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RITEGs).  

2010

JSC Isotope began implementing the project of setting up a Molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) radioisotope production at JSC RIAR, Dimitrovgrad. The project was named "Creation of Molybdenum-99 production facility" (one of the five key innovation projects announced by the President of Russia) and was set up by the Board for National Economy Modernization and Technological Development under the supervision of the President of Russia.

In modern nuclear medicine, 80% of diagnostic procedures are performed with the use of Tc-99m generators. Tc-99m is a decay product of Molybdenum-99. Radionuclide diagnostics allows to detect the most dangerous diseases at early stages which means saving thousands of lives every day. Despite the growing demand, production of this isotope worldwide is decreasing due to shortage of production facilities. Today, Russian Federation is capable of meeting the demand for this key isotope in the local and foreign markets.

2011

In 2011, JSC Isotope continued implementing the "Creation of Molybdenum-99 production facility" project. Eight test batches of Mo-99 were manufactured by the first production line. In December 2011, assembly of the second production line, one with greater capacity, started.

2012

The Company proceeded with the second stage of Mo-99 production facility creation. Using the equipment supplied by JSC Isotope, JSC RIAR staff assembled the second production line.

2013

A long-term strategy of the Company's development at the domestic and international isotope market in 2014-2030 was adopted. The entire quantity of Mo-99 produced by ROSATOM State Corporation entities was fully booked. JSC Isotope announced ROSATOM's launch of Russian design Co-60 sealed radioactive sources at the international market. Instead of being a raw material supplier, the company focused on supplying high-value final products; deliveries of compounds labelled with C-14 were the starting point.
